Original Soundtrack time mofos.
Welcome to the first of the Rabbit Hole Series. It's nice here! Everything that you'll need for your travel into the land of snappy tunes, bust-ya-head-open beats, and slow jams that call for the cocoa butter and satin sheets.
In this series, I will be your guide in discovering the wonders of the Original Soundtrack (OST) that accompanies and enhances your Kdrama adventures! And what the fuck does a rabbit hole have to do with the music on a drama? Everything heifer! When you hear the right one, you're going down that hole!
I nearly lost my whole mind (and subsequently fell into my first hole) when I discovered the world of the OST to Kdramas. At first there was total disbelief over not knowing the shit existed and was a THING.
At the time, I was about 6 good episodes into my first drama; Korean Odyssey. The same 5 songs had played at least 20,000 fucking times on the show by that point. I was so damn confused at my evolution from thinking "Really!? AGAIN WITH THIS SONG?!" to "Fuck yes! It's my jam......again! And Again!!!"
That's when the other rabbit holes started to appear. Spotify proved to be a great little wheel barrel for all the shit I was unearthing. It was like the best of old skool R&B, but updated with contemporary coolness. Like if Jodeci was Korean (and really pale with light make-up) and not all fucked up and old. Just sayin'.
So yes, it was many months later when I discovered the path of K-R&B. Yes, there is a whole situation happening where Korean artists are kicking the shit out of a whole genre. And collaborating with artists from all over (yeah... found out that Teddy Riley was into producing shit there for a while).
The first artist that I listened to was Crush. Then came Jay Park. Needless to say; hips started winding, back was arching, and I'm looking around to see if anyone saw me. That shit hit me like THAT. Couldn't understand a damn word, but it did not even matter. I mean, do beats & rhythm really need a spoken language? Yo. I know. I'm like soooo fucking deep.
By the way, if you're not lame and disinterested, I might offer up some suggestions in future installments of the Rabbit Hole Series. This of course will be contingent on your fucking leaving a comment and subscribing mofo!!
On to the next one ladies (and other mofos)...
